Restaurant PhotographerRestaurant photographer shoots restaurant pictures for national advertising, editorial, corporate, restaurant and manufacturing clients. Dennis Davis works with expert food stylists to produce mouth-watering images that make you hungry just to look at them. If you need a restaurant picture or a restaurant food photographer, you have found the right place. Davis Photographic specializes in restaurant food pictures for menus, posters, and advertisements with a close-up style that shows off the food’s textures and colors. I am a studio photographer as well as shooting on location, and a digital photographer as well as shooting film. Food Photographer - Old SchoolFood photography ten to fifteen years ago was about perfection. Every item had to be placed with with exacting care. Props were often more important than the food, and huge arrangements that showed an entire table or room were not unusual. Everything had to be in focus and tack sharp, or the photograph was considered unpublishable. Food photographer Dennis Davis works with food stylists from throughout Southern California to produce edible works of art. Everything is critical to the image - background, plates, napkins, produce, meat and lighting. Davis Photographic is a digital based studio today, however most of the images appearing near this text were shot with a Hassleblad medium format or a Sinar 4" x 5" camera on transparancy film. Some of my earliest commercial photography projects were cook book covers and illustrations. The first cook book cover I shot is in its 31st printing, and continues to be a strong seller after more than 15 years. One recent image with the large round of cheese and fruit bowl was shot for a hospital menu cover, and printed 3 million in its first printing. I have worked with some amazing food stylists and chefs over the years, who have contributed to the work. I made food photography my specialty because several of the books I read said that it was the most difficult of subjects. I felt that if I could excel at food photography, I could succeed with any subject. I believe that photography is "painting with light", and art form that is too often ignored because it happens in an instant. You will see a 3-D look to my food photography, and a feeling of light and shadow. It is this feeling of light that sets my work apart. My recent food clients have included Toms Farms - a Southern California Farmer's Market chain, King Soopers- a grocery store chain, Joyce's submarines-a fast food franchise, and Jodere Publishing and Nu-Lifestyle books - both cook book publishers. Other types of clients include restaurants, hotels, magazines and book publishers. Food photography is our specialty, with most of our work done digitally for publication.
